eagles100 Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 I'm planning on doing a kitchen backsplash with pennies. I will do just a strip of the coins and the rest of the backsplash with tiles because it would be too much labour to do it all with pennies. Please let me know if you have any you want to sell, at cost of course. I want to avoid bringing a bunch from Canada. Question: What Mexican coins are bronze colour? I only see the 50¢ coin. Is there a smaller denomination Mexican coin in bronze colour? Thanks
More Liana Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 The 50 centavo coin--not the newest one, but the one prior to the new one--is the bronze-ish color. The 10-peso coin is a gold-ish color. As far as I know, those are the only two modern-day Mexican coins that are a color other than the silver-ish ones. In 1920 and again in 1935, Mexico issued a solid copper 20 centavo coin. They're not particularly rare, but they are unusual in that they were only issued in those two years.
Ginger Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 I have a few American pennies but not a whole bunch. I'll contribute them to your project. Do you want them shined up or left dull? I'll be in the States in September & can bring you more if that helps.
Irish Gal Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 Canada is doing away with pennies so if you purchase something for $1.48 it is rounded up to $1.50. If something costs $1.42, it will be rounded down to $1.40. I've noticed charities have placed boxes in coffee shops, etc. so you can give your pennies to a charity. Great idea!
