ballbabe Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 My husband is having some difficulties with his vision. Is there someone Lakeside that is recommended to address this problem?
Ferret Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 I prefer Dr. Monica who is the Opthamologist at the Dermika Clinic in Ajijic. She is not to be confused with Dr. Monica who is a Dermatologist with the same name at the same clinic. Phone for an appointment 766-2500 Dr. Monica has all the right equipment to properly check for glaucoma pressure and to check the retina. She gave me a very thorough exam when I developed a floater. I've been going to Opthamologists since I was three.
Alegria Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 Do you know if Dr Monica also prescribes eyeglasses? Does she have a lab she uses to get them made?
Bill Phillips Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 Dr. Tony Pinto in Ribera's speaks perfect English and has been here for years....
Sailor Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 Do you know if Dr Monica also prescribes eyeglasses? Does she have a lab she uses to get them made? Yes, she does prescribe glasses. After going to several eye doctors here and in Guad for over 6 months, Dra. Monica is the only one who diagnosed my problem and fixed it. I highly recommend her.
gringal Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 Dr. Vargas from Guadalajara comes into the Ajijic Clinic on Tuesdays. Excellent ophthalmologist; well equipped local office. Does more advanced diagnostics and surgery at Puerto di Hierro hospital in Guad. Speaks English.
Frijoles Posted June 4, 2013 Report Posted June 4, 2013 I prefer Dr. Alegria Posted June 4, 2013 Report Posted June 4, 2013 I've seen both Dr Vargas and Dra Monica, and I much prefer Dr Vargas. His exam seemed more thorough and detailed.
Sandrita Posted June 4, 2013 Report Posted June 4, 2013 I saw Dr. Vargas about a month ago and had seen him 3 years ago to get a 2nd opinion after a cataract surgery I had didn't turn out well. I have to see him in another month to discuss having the other eye done. I think he is very qualified and his speciality is cataracts and glaucoma. It's helpful to me that he comes to the Ajijic Clinic every Tuesday. I agree that his exam was very detailed...he wouldn't write a new prescription for me since I will probably be looking at cataract surgery sooner than later. Buena suerte.
LaChula Posted June 4, 2013 Report Posted June 4, 2013 Another vote for Dr.Vargas. Call the AjijicClinic for an appointment. 766-0550
lakeheron Posted June 4, 2013 Report Posted June 4, 2013 Dr. Tony Pinto in Ribera's speaks perfect English and has been here for years.... I, my husband and workers tried Dr. Pinto for a variety of issues in the past. I wouldn't use him.
gringal Posted June 4, 2013 Report Posted June 4, 2013 Dr. Vargas did my eye surgery last year. Highly recommend him. Very thorough. I saw Dr. Pinto first and after the exam, he was ready to recommend a Guadalajara doctor to do the surgery. I went for the second opinion to Dr. Vargas. He did the surgery at Puerto del Hierro in Guad, but the follow ups were here at Ajijic Clinic. I like that convenience. His English is good enough.
mhn237 Posted June 4, 2013 Report Posted June 4, 2013 For a few different reasons, I would suggest NOT using Dr. Pinto in Riberas.
arlenes Posted June 5, 2013 Report Posted June 5, 2013 I also would not use Dr. Pinto. Some strange recommendations about my glaucoma problem. Dr. Vargas has been a lifesaver for me. I have a very complicated form of glaucoma and his treatment was exactly what my Dr. in the US recommended and his followup has been excellent. He even gave me his cell phone number to call him anytime I had something I was worried about and always answered. He is in Ajijic on Tuesday evenings and even some Saturday mornings. Will even come here if you have an emergency.
