Hernan Santiago Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 I have lived here, in the same place for over 8 years. I drive a foreign plated vehicle. I have never been stopped or ticketed, I have never been burglarized nor robbed. I have never been ripped off by anyone that I have done business with.My gardener and my housekeeper have had keys to my place for over 7 years without incident. Never a problem with propane theft from the one delivery guy that I have used since I moved here TelMex has always gone out of their way to help me. CFE is a countrywide pain in the ### to all of us. I have never been treated unfairly by any Mexican in any situation. Is it just me? If it is not just me, let those of us who have had very positive experiences here chime in and do something to counter all of this negativity. Just a thought.

Fred Habacht Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 It sounds like it is time for you to leave Mexico ASAP....to be treated that way is an outrage!!!LOL

Never had a problem with CFE in fact I forgot to pay the bill when I first moved here and the guy knocked on my door and told me he was there to turn off the power. All I had was 50 pesos. He was happy and didn't disconnect me and I promptly paid. Life is good!!!

nopalesflower Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Darn, I've had the same experience living here over 12 years. Nothing to complain about. Only being blessed every day in this wonderful country and its people. I thought there was something wrong with me!

Xena Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 Five years for me with no negative experiences. I have never been treated with such respect, kindness and helpfulness on a day-to-day basis. I LOVE it here.
daisy2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 my experience has also been very positive. Nothing to complain about. This board should have a section for complainers only. Keep them all in one place until they return up north.
REC Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 Going on 8 years and really great experiences. We have done quite a bit of remodeling and the folks that work on our house have become like family. We've been invited to family parties and when we run into them around town they appear really happy to see us. Our maid and gardener who happen to be brother and sister have become like family. We get invited to end of school ceremonies, family parties, first communion, birthdays, etc., etc. We just adore them and are humbled by how well we are treated. We have been very fortunate to develop several other sets of local friends and from one of those friendships we have become like family with another wonderful family. They refer to their own kids and my nietos (grandchildren). Just love it here with SO many positive experience. We have been burglarized and have been hassled a couple of times by the transitos. But all in all those things have been minor (even the rather extensive burglary), nobody was hurt and it didn't dampen our love of the country, our respect for the people, or the great joy we get from the wonderful relationships with have developed. This is now home and we can't imagine leaving. We are VERY lucky to have found our way here.
ajijicrocks Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 I hate to burst the bubble, but I got a paper cut last week and I still have to find someone to blame it on. LOVE this topic!!

Hud Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 I have lived here, in the same place for over 8 years. I Just a passing thought...if you have really been here eight years, why are you a "newbie" on this board?

Except my maid has been with me almost 18 years, has always had my keys. Same with the gardener and next door neighbors (Mexicans). Thanks for posting this!
Jim Bowie Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 Nice post. Lets get white hats for us and black hats for those that have had problems here.
bennie Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 we are going back in time, thats fine w/me. anyone who has had trouble, will be ostracized. ALL immigration posts, car posts, adios! put your $$ where your mouth is. comeon, lets clean this board up. if it hasnt been locked, delete delete delete. repeat & delete!
valbogyo Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 Geez, Bennie. Lighten up! It is human nature for people to speak up when things go wrong, and forget about all the times things go well. There has never been a shortage of negative stuff on this board and most of it gets posted without being deleted or locked. Even BorderlandBeat forum has guidelines and deletes and bans people! If nothing happens..... people do not write about it! No robberies, no fraud, no tickets.... no post! If you were a new person reading this board, you would get the idea, since a very significant number of posts are about problems..... that most of the people around the chapala area are pretty frustrated. The majority of people, I know, are not being robbed/ticketed or ripped off on a regular basis. You do begin to wonder if you are the only person who has not been a victim, when you read this board. It is nice to find out that it really is normal to be happy and without major problems.
ajijicrocks Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 Just a passing thought...if you have really been here eight years, why are you a "newbie" on this board? Hud I too moved 8 years ago and only recently joined the board and am also listed as a newbie.
bennie Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 i can proudly say i have never been ticketed, stopped by police, had a shake down. it must be my party hat...., the truth is i dont drive. that eliminates alot of negativity. it seems that driving here, is the major cause for stress. i also dont use IMSS, or any govt hospital. no negative stories on that account. no workers have keys, so none of "those" kind of stories. i am feeling kind of festive!
Arti Riberas Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 Thank you all for these posts. I agree that I am blessed to live in this extraordinary country of mystery, magic and enchantment...and the most incredibly friendly people I have ever met in this world. This has made my day. Lately, I have been thinking this board is a downer and wonder why some are still here.
