Hernan Santiago Posted May 21, 2013 Report Posted May 21, 2013 I find that at this time of year, I need to slather myself from head to toe with lotion or I leave a trail of dead skin flakes so large that I could follow them back home if I get lost. Right now, I am using "Dove nutricion esencial". I like it, but is there anything better at keeping my aged skin moister until the rains begin? I tried lard, but kept sliding off my chair and it was a pain to wash off. Thanks.
MyHomeSweetHome Posted May 21, 2013 Report Posted May 21, 2013 I found honey body wax at the organic market. It won't be as slick as lard but it will help. Or you could try Eucerin lotion is real good.
cedros Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 I have a problem at this time of year with the skin on my feet and hands getting so dry it cracks. This works for me; PRO-NATURAL derm extreme hydration Piel Extra Seca. Available at Walmart.
Candy Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Dermatologist told me to get a lotion from farmacia...quite expensive but very good. I have extremely dry skin. It's called Ureaderm Lactato. Sometimes it's hard to find.
Ferret Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Oleoderm (the bottle with the green writing) + five capsules of vitamin E squeezed into it. Or coconut oil.
maw7815 Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 I also have extremely dry feet, I have fineally solved the problem and I had deep cracks on my heals and very painful to walk on. I use GNC's tube of Vitamin E Ointment bought at Pharmacia Christina or at any GNC store. Open the cap and sqeeze a little out. It should have a consistency like vasiline, if it is more liquid don't buy it. I then would rub this on my feet, then put a plastic bag over each foot, then put socks on to keep them in place before going to sleep. It works! I have since given up on plastic bags because I found footie socks at Walmart where the inside of the sock is rubberized so lotions don't get absorbed. The bottoms of the socks have traction strips so you won't slip while walking. They are sold in the health & beauty aids dept hanging on a peg where other foot supplies are sold. They cost $180p but well worth it. The cracks are gone and I'm not in pain anymore.

I had ONE, once, and never want another one.
bennie Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 olive oil almond oil ricino oil did nothing. what helps in the liquid nivia. i mixed w/some almond & it works. put it on night, also day.
thevalerieleigh Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 I love the Body Butters from The Body Shop NOB. I order it when it's on sale for $10 each. You'll have to get someone to "mule" it down for you or get it next time you're in the states but I keep 4-6 tubs of it in my cabinet. It seems to hold up well and lasts a long time. Good luck! Valerie
gogirl Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Curel for dry skin is very good and not greasy. Walmart carries Palmer's Cocoa Butter. It's in a flat jar with a silver lid. I use that mainly on my feet at night.

Valerie There's a Body Shop at Andares Mall in the strip by P.F. Chang's & they always seem to have specials.
ComputerGuy Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 If you can get someone to bring it down from NOB, bag balm or Udder Cream is absolutely the best. Originally designed to provide relief for overworkd cow udders. http://www.uddercream.com/
Frijoles Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 For my hands I recently bought Nivea SOS - a small 50 ml tube at Walmart for 30-some pesos. Worked for me.
camillenparadise Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 No need to mule the udder balm down here. The vet supply in Chapala, the one with the black and white cow, sells it as "Bag Balm". It's in a square green metal can. I use it on my canaries' feet to prevent mites.
ComputerGuy Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Something you can get at WalMart is Garnier lotions, three or four types, for different problems. Smells nice, and is not greasy, and rubs in well.

RVGRINGO Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Growing up in dairy country, I became familiar with bag balm and its uses at a very young age. Then, I grew up and discovered the much more pleasurable advantages of coconut oil liberally applied by wahinis in French Polynesia. There is just no comparison of the benefits to mankind.
lakeside7 Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Try Glicerina from Farmacia Guad cost 12/14pesos for 500ml and water down as needed
cedros Posted June 6, 2013 Report Posted June 6, 2013 Curel for dry skin is very good and not greasy. Walmart carries Palmer's Cocoa Butter. It's in a flat jar with a silver lid. I use that mainly on my feet at night. I bought some Palmer's and have found it works better on my cracked feet than what I was using. When I bought it I thought it had an odd picture on the label. When I got home I was surprised when I translated the label to find that it is advertised to get rid of stretch marks after giving birth!
