desertdave Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 Went to Min Wah's for lunch last week after a 6 year absence! Why 6 years? Because like a lot of us, when you have a bad experience with a restaurant you don't go back. We decided to give it another try and boy where we surprised! The food was excellent and the service and cleanliness could not have been better. They have wonderful lunch specials beginning at 11:00am each day. My wife had the house special chow mein which was delicious, and I had the mongolian beef. The specials include soup, main course, rice and hot or ice tea for 80 pesos. We went back a week later and had another wonderful meal and this time tried the General Chicken off the regular menu which was very good and enough to feed 3-4 people. I encourage those of you who have not been there in a while and have never been there to give it a try. They are open 7 days a week and also serve breakfast.
Mainecoons Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 Our Sunday morning breakfast group moved there from Sunrise to get away from the panhandling musicians and their noise and we are very pleased with the quality of the breakfast, the price, the service and the cleanliness of the place. We'll take your suggestion to try it for dinner as well.
EX-PAT2011 Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 Thanks, it has been 3 years for us. We will give it another try.
Carnivore Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 We'll also give it another try. We stopped trying as the food had become very bad and the lack of cleanliness was blatently obvious throughout the restaurant.
Carnivore Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 Correction: We'll also give it another try. We simply stopped trying as the food had become very bad and the lack of cleanliness was blatantly obvious throughout the restaurant.
Jeanneb2000 Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 I've only been there 3 times. But the last time I had the Sizzling Rice Soup which was over and beyond delicious and so filling. I kept eating and eating until I finally had to give up and leave the rest. Yummy. I have never had a problem with them.
Cookie Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 It's been awhile since we've been there..but I always enjoyed their breakfast. Their Eggs Benedict was not exactly correct.... but delicious anyway.
Carnivore Posted May 8, 2013 Report Posted May 8, 2013 Hopefully, either the owners themselves or patrons will report to them, that the restaurant's "clean up" has worked. Last evening, for the first time in a long while we went back for another try. The appearance of the parking lot was a pleasant surprise. No litter and the ground had been freshly swept or raked. Although there were no other diners at 7:30p.m. every table had a clean table cloth and the menus were new and clean. The general appearance of the dining room and washrooms showed that everything had been recently painted and all appeared fresh and clean. The restaurant no longer smelled of "long past it's prime fryer oil". Our food was excellent. The Sizzling Rice Soup was a great recommendation (see earlier post) and it would be hard for us to return and not order this dish. Definitely sufficient for sharing. The egg rolls were excellent and unlike in the past were hot, delicious and not soaking with grease. Initially we had intended to order two additional dishes but with the soup and the two egg rolls one additional dish, Moo Goo Guy Pan was more than sufficient. A good value meal. Good service and good food in a pleasant clean environment. Would only recommend that the serving staff not "rush" patrons into ordering. Last night, we wanted to try the soup and egg rolls before we ordered further food and this seemed to "confuse" our young server. This has become our practice in many restaurants where we know they have a bad habit of bringing all of the food at once, regardless of how often we ask them not to.
