Lucky23 Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 I'm interested in input about the best place to buy a vacuum cleaner - information about make, model and price would be great too. I like one that has a wand. I am also willing to drive to Guadalajara or elsewhere if needed. Feel free to share or PM if there are stores or vacuum cleaners you would not recommend. Gracias in advance for your time and input.
simpsca Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 I've recently looked for a vacuum cleaner lakeside - Walmart and Coppel had nothing worthwhile. I got my best vacuum in Guadalajara at Fabricas de Francia 14 years ago and it lasted 10 years - it was as an LG. Bought a Koblenz at Walmart a year ago and it's motor just died. Sorianna had a few but did not look like good quality and all were in boxes in the front of the store so you couldn't see them. Some of my best vacuum's were found at thrift shops lakeside so you may want to try Upscale Resale and the two across from 7-11 in Riberas.

Avoid Koblenz canister type vaccum sold at Costco and other places. The plastic wand pieces break very quickly and unless very carefully maintained the motor will thermal shutdown. Never had a finicky vacuum before. Plan on bringing down a shark from NOB in the fall.
Ajijic Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 Liverpool and often they have sales. I remember buying my first canister vacuum at Sears in Guadalajara. As I was leaving the light went on and I asked where do i buy bags. They did not have any. I then gave it back and they sold me bagless. Most homes here have hard floors and little to no carpet, so you do not need the most powerful or most expensive but to me bagless is a must. Last week we received a Panasonic bagless, canister vacuum from Amazon for a very reasonable price of under $90 although they have since raised the price.
Rony Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 There are at least 3 vacuum cleaners for sale at the Chapala consignment store. Rony
giltner68 Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 Just came back from Costco, they have several all the way from Dyson at $7600p (as I recall, before my glasses fogged up) down to several at more realistic prices, all uprights. Actually, I've had a Koblenz for over 5 years and it's not going to conquer the world, but works?
Mainecoons Posted April 27, 2013 Report Posted April 27, 2013 Make sure whatever you buy you can get the bags for it and they aren't outrageous.
gogirl Posted April 27, 2013 Report Posted April 27, 2013 We bought a Hoover bagless upright at Costco in Guadalajara a few years ago. It has attachments. We also bought a Hoover Linx cordless stick vacuum from amazon and picked it up when we were in the States. I am very happy with both. I use the upright once a week and the cordless every day.
