satnrose Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 I believe the old sand is removed and replaced with clean sand. Has anyone had this done recently and can give me an idea of the cost along with the name of the servicer?
ajijicis4me Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 I believe the old sand is removed and replaced with clean sand. Has anyone had this done recently and can give me an idea of the cost along with the name of the servicer? I haven't had it done as I only have a 2 year old filter, but it shouldn't cost too much. I recommend these two companies. Get a price. Let us know how you make out. satnrose Posted April 11, 2013 Author Report Posted April 11, 2013 Thanks, Ajijics Here is my review. Ague Munro. The charged 1500 pesos for labor, three guys about an hour. They provided in the estimate 200 for sand, but neglected to mention that per bag. Total 1900 pesos. They broke the handle turning off the surface drain. Apparently they did mot have a wrench to turn it back on and left without mentioning it. Consequently our pool was not being filtered but we did have a crescent wrench to turn it back on. We now need a new handle.
doberwoman Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 Albercas del Lago, Ing. Hecht does ours....ok....
satnrose Posted April 11, 2013 Author Report Posted April 11, 2013 I forgot to mention the guy wanted to dump the old sand next to the pool and we had to argue, refusing to allow him to do so.. Agua Munro, not ague.

It's at most an 800 - 900 peso job including sand. If they broke something you shold have called the owner and told them you're not paying the full amount. A NEW pool filter runs between 4,000 - 4.500 pesoos.
satnrose Posted April 12, 2013 Author Report Posted April 12, 2013 Ajijics4me, they are located on the carratera right past El Sarape next to the medical supply. We didn't realize there was a problem until we noticed something wrong with the surface drain. That was hours after they left and we paid them in full. I would have called them back, but between the high cost and the way they left the pool, I didn't want anything further to do with them. The best I could do was write a review of my experience. I had used this guy nice before with clouded water and he was helpful and reasonable. Thanks again for the information you provided.
Studio del Sol Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 I used Aqua Mundo as well and thought they were expensive. Same price for changing sand and labor. They do not arrive with correct tools. I needed them to take care of my small pool for a month and was charged 1200 pesos for 8 visits.
TioBob Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 Ask your pool guy if zeolite will work in your pool filter. Zeolite will filter down to 3 to 5 microns and leave your pool crystal clear. We use it in our water systems. Sand filters down to 20 to 25 microns at best.
Musicdoc Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 Our filter started spewing water all-over. We've always used Home Services for our pool and Tio Bob for our home purification. Home services responded within an hour. Changed the rocks and Zeolite - and replaced a cracked PVC pipe. Total cost - $1080-. As usual - we're very happy with Home Services.
