It's our 35th wedding anniversary and we want steak and lobster, but we want GREAT steak and lobster! Where, in Guadalajara or Lakeside, would you go for this rare combination? Looking for the best.

Thanks! :)

Here, you might find an overcooked Pacific spiny langusta, but not a true lobster. For that, you would have to order from Maine, pick it up at the airport, rush home and cook it while still alive and the steak is sizzling on the grille.

I am salivating in my keyboard!!!!!!!!

The closest that Los Arcos comes is a Surf and Turf with shrimp, not lobster.

None of their menu items show any type of lobster or even langosta. One dish shows prawns.

Try the restaurant section on Trip Advisor for Guadalajara. There is a choice of cuisines on the left . Steakhouse sounds likely.

For our last anniversary, we stayed local and had a lesser surf and turf but delicious dinner at Armando's under the new ownership; It was a shrimp and filet brochette. Adding one of their fine homemade desserts made it special.

I hope you can find the real deal, though. Makes me salivate to remember the good ones back in CA, on the coast.

Lobster is a special Item on the board when you go in.. They bring the live lobsters to your table for you to pick which one you want I have had it 2 times in GDL and 3 times in Mex City in the past year...Love lobster...

Last year one of our friends had a 70th Birthday. He took out all his very best friends to Armando's and made arrangements with Armando for Surf and Turf, a Filet with Lobster or if you didn't like Lobster, you could substitue Very Large Shrimp. The dish was accompanied by potato and 2 veggies. He paid for everything including wine and drinks.

You might want to contact Armando's to see if they'll do something special for you.

You know Armando is no longer at Armando's? Mother/daughter Faye and Amy are running it now, with many of Armando's recipes as well as some innovations.

If our OP talks to either of the ladies, they might persuade them to do a lobster. After all, Pacifico is nearby.

The steaks are good.

I didn't say to contact Armando, I said Armando's, same name, different owner.

Gee thanks for cluing me in since I've eaten there at least 6 times since Faye and Amy took over.

I hope you can actually get lobster, Homerus Americanus, the ones with the big claws; as in Maine Lobster, and not the langosta that some people insist on calling lobster ... they are not the same animal and there is no comparing the taste & texture.

Hi there.......I'm not privy to your personal dining out habits, hon, so no offense was intended, but the OP needed to know to seek out Faye or Amy when they try to make arrangements rather than Armando himself..

I don't know about you, but I'd happily settle for a big Australian lobster tail if available. With REAL drawn butter. OMIGOD, I'm salivating on the keyboard too, now.

One does not even need to google, to determine that they are both lobster. Some of us actually prefer the latter which is what is available here. A few months ago,we BBQ'd Angus rib eye steak and a 1.1k lobster tail from Wallyworld and they were delicias.

And yes,we have had both. The only thing I miss from the former is the tomalley.

edit:sorry,1.1 lbs,but they do have larger.

The smaller Moreton Bay bugs are even better. Real drawn, cultured butter is readily available here.

Adelitas has lobster on their menu for $195 pesos but I have no idea which kind or if it's good. Sorry.

I just checked some places that ship Maine lobsters, http://getmainelobster.com/ and they don't ship outside the US. My suggestion is to head to Guadalajara's abastos market, find the seafood section, and see if it is available. It is an easy drive, on the way to the old Costco, on Lazara Cardenas.
