nopalesflower Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Thanks for trying again. I am interested in learning about performance and pricing and the experience of those who are using solar energy. Please stay on topic and keep this post open.
MyHomeSweetHome Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 I don't think the company you get them from is any big deal. Just make sure you get one large enough for what you use or even a little bigger, they're great! What i don't like is in the winter we still light the boiler at night if I've used a lot of water washing or it's been cloudy...i don't know how to light the boiler and don't want to, so get upset if dh isn't home. We got one at Amutio next to Farmacia Guadalajara in Ajijic...$10,000 140 liters, we have 2. rotoplas is the brand name. Dh wanted to see if we could get by with one little one, didnt work so he connected a second. Jose at the HomeServices in San Antonio can do it, my dh installed ours.
Tom Leonard Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Just this morning I was talking with Valentin at ‘Power Sun’ in Chapala, he’s an engineer and he gave me the following prices. Gravity systems 140 litros - 10 tubos, 3 personas 5,500 pesos 185 litros -16 tubos , 4 personas 7,100 240 litros -20 tubos, 6 personas 9,200 330 litros - 28 tubos, 9 personas 11,800 Pressure systems 150 litros -12 tubos, 3 personas 10,500 215 litros 24 tubos, 6 personas 16,000 280 litros 30 tubos, 8 personas 20,000 He also has very large systems, like for apartment buildings, hotels, etc. 640 litros - 62 tubos, 14 personas 21,300 1120 litros - 100 tubos, 25 personas 41,500 This isn’t including installation but his prices are reasonable and he does good work. Here’s his website: http://www.powersunmexico.com/ Personally I think getting solar water heaters is a good idea, they work well in this climate and the price of propane is constantly increasing so you will save quite a bit of money in the long run. I think he also gives a 25 year warranty on his solar heaters.
ibbocat Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Most hardware/plumbers stores will sell systems and we paid a little less than the prices above.
