blondie Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Are there any places in Tonala? Thanks, blondie
Floradude Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 There is a wonderful small shop that does great work here in Ajijic. I cannot remember the name of it but: it is in the next block west from the LCS and down several stores. it is on the north (mtn.) side of the street. they have cushions, etc. in the window. Go through their books and select your material. You will not be disappointed with their work.
Travis Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 The place referred to above is called Disenos Magnolia, I think. I've had a couple things made there. They do nice work.
More Liana Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 There is a great place in Tlaquepaque, if you want to go that far. The fabric selection is great and the work done is expert. Tienda Monashttp://www.tiendamonas.com.mx/
RVGRINGO Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Dotto for Tienda Monas on Juarez in Tlaquepaque.
bmh Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 They also have a large selections of bedspreads from Guatemala some of them are reasonnable.
carib Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Mona's in Tlaquepaque is now located on the main street. Bigger store. Great place, wide selection and good prices.
Torontonian Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 regarding Disenos Magnolia My experience was less than satisfactory. First of all, the wait was much longer than I was originally told. And I was asked for more money part way through the wait period. I realized then that the fabric had never been ordered and we were already at the date when the bedspread was to be finished. I paid and went back in when the new date came up. Still not ready. I happened to have just come from the bank so I paid an extra 500 pesos towards the bedspread but I had not brought their card with me - it was an impromptu stop - and this 500 peso payment was not added to the amount already paid (which was written on the back of their card.) It was maybe 10 more days and I stopped in to find it ready BUT there was no memory of my 500 pesos. I came back with a Spanish speaker as I wanted it to be very clear and I spoke to both the original person and the younger woman (who had taken the 500). I found it very hard to believe that she would not have remembered this transaction. I realize that it was my fault for not getting it in writing. Just saying... make sure you do.
CSOKI Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Monas in Tlaquepaque is the place for selection of fabrics, quality and they always have your order ready as promised. They made for us several bedspreads and cushions. They also custom made two large table cloths. Nice store, great service.
bmh Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Actually I do not care for the selection of fabrics at Mona, I rather go shopping in Santa Teresita for fabrics. but I like the textiles they carry from various parts of Mexico.
blondie Posted April 2, 2013 Author Report Posted April 2, 2013 Thanks everyone, info very much appreciated. blondie
