carib Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 Started behind the Tecnologico this morning and it is all the way down to the Movie Building. The wind doe not help.
Zanadu44 Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 Big wind and dry ground do not mix well with fire
maryannborman Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 From Riberaas I can see four individual fires on the very top of the mountain, three in a cluster just above the 7-11 store. One very large one at the top of the mountain above Magana's. Hopefully the fire dept hoses are long enough to reach from off the libermento. The fires can easily spread in this wind, including down the mountain. Lets all send good thoughts to the firemen fighting the blaze with the wind we are expereincing.
satnrose Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 Looked like a fire on the roof next to David's. They got a handle on it. Busy day for the fire dept.
JayBearII Posted March 24, 2013 Report Posted March 24, 2013 Reminds me of the years when the dump (formerly on the bypass) burned annually or more often. I was downwind in lower Chula Vista and boy was that hard on the lungs.
CWB Posted March 24, 2013 Report Posted March 24, 2013 Reminds me of the years when the dump (formerly on the bypass) burned annually or more often. I was downwind in lower Chula Vista and boy was that hard on the lungs. I remember the time they decided to do a "controlled burn" on the mountain above us. Needless to say, you can imagine what happened.
gary0131 Posted March 24, 2013 Report Posted March 24, 2013 It looks like the fire across from Magana's is out. No more smoke. Yeah!
carib Posted March 24, 2013 Author Report Posted March 24, 2013 The fire is out. It took a good chunk of vegetation.
