Sweetest Cat in the World Needs a Home!

*** IMPORTANT UPDATE ***

We are happy to report that just yesterday (03/10/13) Orange Kitty found a forever home with a wonderful family and is settling in nicely. Thank you one and all for helping us. We couldn't be more pleased! :)

I posted a few days ago concerning a stray cat that appeared at our door in Villa Nova, Ajijic. We haven't had any luck locating his previous owner (we think the kitty is a neutered male) so are now putting out the word that he's looking for a new permanent home. We're travelling by bicycle so we can't keep him (which is too bad since he is the sweetest cat!).

More about Orange Kitty, as we've taken to referring to him: He's a strawberry-blonde & white medium-long haired cat who is very quiet, very well behaved and VERY affectionate. He loves napping on the closest lap and he appears healthy (aside from being a little skinny). We really love this cat and want to help him find a good home. He enjoys spending most of his time with people and would be a perfect cat for someone living alone or in an otherwise quiet place. Anyone looking for a companion cat couldn't do better! We've given him a bath and a dose of Frontline Plus so he is flea and tick free and he is gaining weight nicely.

Anyways, please help Orange Kitty by putting out the word amongst your friends and neighbors that he is available and ready to settle down. Anita's Shelter has agreed to take him but I'd much prefer to place him in a home then put him through the stress of a shelter. He'd be perfect for an elder since he is very calm and quiet and easy to care for. Plus, since he happily spends hours on your lap, he'd be a great match for someone who spends a lot of time at home.

Anyone wishing to see more photos or to set up a time to visit Orange Kitty can private message me so we can exchange info.

Thanks for your help! :)

It would help if you could say for sure that this is a neutered male. Then the adopter would have no surprises.

I have a similar cat but definitely long-haired. So, this could be the great-great(insert about 14 more greats here) grandson of my cat. Alas, my cat does not like other cats around, plus we have a dog, so I can't take it.

I will volunteer to put up a notice at LCS if you will PM me with particulars (photo, your phone and email). New cat-less people typically stop in there so it might help your chances. Also, ask to post on the board at Lladron. I assume you have asked if they would take the cat and they said "no."

I live in Villa Nova on Los Mineros. This looks a lot like my neighbor's cat, but she is away in PV and I don't know when she is returning.

Thanks - I PM'd you.

As for the sex of Orange Kitty, its a tough call because he's got long-ish hair and appears to be neutered, hence the tentative nature of my guesstimate. Short of a vet house call we'll have to leave it at that. And yes, I've referenced the "How to Determine Your Cat's Sex" photos online. Its just a tough call for the inexperienced.

Also, for my sake and the sake of anyone else reading this post what/where is Lladron?

It's Ladron, and means the Ladron vet clinic, one building east of the Animal Shelter in Riberas. They have a bulletin board, but are not in the business of taking in cats.

(That's what the shelter does, but might be full).

Shelter also has a bulletin board for posting.

Have you actually TALKED to Bobbie at Roberto's restaurant to be sure this is not HIS missing cat?

roberto lost what i thought was an orange cat sometime ago.... try to take a photo to the restaurant

That was the first avenue I tired (I too saw the earlier post) but after repeated attempts both via the internet and one in-person visit I can't get anyone to respond.

Thanks! Also regarding Bobbie, see my response above.

Finally, as I stated in my post, Anita's has agreed to talk him but for now I'm holding out for a good home so he doesn't have to go through the trauma of a shelter.

I met Orange Kitty today and he is indeed a sweet cat, very affectionate, and yes, he is a neutered male. The young couple who are caring for him leave at the end of the month, so he is looking for a more permanent home. Dr. Lladron has examined him and says he is healthy, about a year and a half old, 7 lbs. and he is eating well to make up for lost time.

Any offers? He is a really great cat.

Here's a better photo of the cat we took in - this is after we gave him a bath and de-flead him. PRETTY PLEASE, can anyone out there offer this sweet, quiet kitty a home? The place we're staying does not allow cats and they're being very kind to allow us to take him in for a couple of weeks till we find him a home. We've covered de-fleaing, de-worming and an initial vet visit to ensure he is neutered and healthy. We're feeding him back to a healthy weight and he is growing sweeter and more relaxed every day, knowing he is in a safe place. We've also seen him interact well and non-aggressively with other neighborhood cats. Surely, this kitty is perfect for someone who lives here full time and is looking for a low-maintenance cat. Anyone out there with a big heart and a good home?

YES! We dropped the kitty off at his forever home today. He's going to love his new home & will be very well-cared for. Thanks to everyone for helping us find a home for him.
