jrm30655 Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 I've been using Hide-my-ip for over a year, working for a company in the US. Their system will only accept US ips. Haven't had a problem until yesterday. Now, it doesn't seem to be working. I loaded Easy-Hide-IP and it works so I presume that it is Hide-My-IP. Anyone else having such problems?
gary c. Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 I use the premium version (about 9 dollars a month) and it works great. Right now my IP is in Florida. I can switch it to a few countries and get different news and media that way. C

I have used this one for a few years it costs $4 p/m. Great customer support and it works well, but I have moved away from VPN to a better way for streaming content. http://cp.hidemynet.com/aff.php?aff=004 But for the 1st poster hidemynet is an excellent solution, offering multiple VPN protocols for every device.
Tony_In_Mexico Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 Hmmm, makes me wonder if I'm wasting money. I use OpenVPN (strongvpn.com) and pay $30 a month. Does anyone who knows more than me about such things know if I can get comparable results from a cheaper service?
brercottage385 Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 Tony - I am also using Strong VPN - only cost $50 p.a.

Which countries do you need to tunnel to? (list them) 2). What is it used for? banking ie. high security, streaming, remote office etc (be specific) 3). any special requirements that you can think of. Based on the $30 p/m price it sounds like you have their Premium Open service? Which includes Latvia, Romania etc.
valbogyo Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 http://www.ibvpn.com/premium-vpn.html I only need US and Canadian ip addresses and not for anything fancy. $36.95 per year. This firm had good reviews.

I use it for Skype, to order mp3s from Amazon, games through Steam, etc. I do bank online as well. I like my browsing to be secure, but not for any real reason other than I believe in not providing data for those that want it. I like leaving a small footprint. Also, I just spoke with a rep from OpenVPN and he corrected me. I pay $30 for 3 months. The $55 a year is for just PPTP. Not really sure the difference between open server and pptp other than that the open is a bit more secure.
gary c. Posted February 25, 2013 Report Posted February 25, 2013 Actually you can do the same for less cost. Thanks for the link. I'll give it a try. Saving 50 pesos a month means more fun for something else. Carol
