Note to all expats. When moving from a , so called 1st world country to anything less, take, or ship all that kitchen gear. Sure, U can buy it there, but at what cost ? A close friend recently moved to Ecuador for good. He shipped in a custom made 5'x5'x5' box. In it was his meditation chair ( just a good lazyboy thing he was fond of), and stuffed around it was bedding and towels, high end tools, a lot of garden stuff. The tools included his battery(sic) - what a chef calls "his gear" - his knives etc., utensils, pots and pans (U know - the allclad shit) plus all the electrical gizmos - the Kitchen Aid Thingy, with ALL the attachments - pasta maker, sausage stuffer, ice cream maker, etc. etc. To this he added all the countertop must haves - the bread maker, the hand blender, the deep fryer, the espresso machine, one of those expensive induction plates, etc. To this, he added some herbs and spices, and the seeds needed to grow them. He's good to go. If his $80 breadmaker packs it in 2 yrs away, it'll cost him $120 to replace it. At the end of the day he shipped himself a restaurant.
