viejomalogato Posted June 14, 2012 Report Posted June 14, 2012 Is there any alternative to getting chamarro from Tonys ? I like their hamhocks but don't feel inclined to deal with the rudeness. Thank you R
JayBearII Posted June 14, 2012 Report Posted June 14, 2012 Are you looking for an alternative to Tony's meat market, or an alternative to Tony's restaurant? Viva Mexico in San Juan Cosala has good chamarro but it is a special, so not always on the menu.
viejomalogato Posted June 14, 2012 Author Report Posted June 14, 2012 Where is the location of El Sarape, please ?? Excuse me, I meant the meat market ..for Tonys . Thank you R
Bisbee Gal Posted June 14, 2012 Report Posted June 14, 2012 I've bought them (raw meat) at El Torito and have been very satisfied. Cooked ones: El Serape's are indeed excellent. El Serape is on the south side of the carretera in Ajijic, just west of the intersection with Juarez.
viejomalogato Posted June 14, 2012 Author Report Posted June 14, 2012 I don't believe I requested correct spelling correction, however, I appreciate your input. Thank you R
crjd Posted June 15, 2012 Report Posted June 15, 2012 From our experience over the years the best Chamorro (pork shank) that we've found has been at: 1.) El Torito; 2.)The very accommodating young butcher in San Juan Cosala (located just across the street and slightly east of Viva Mexico Restaurant) and 3.) The large butcher shop on the north side of the street immediately to the east of the central market in Jocotepec. As for restaurants offering Chamorro, El Sarape have the product but never in great, dependable or consistent supply.
PULELEHUA Posted June 15, 2012 Report Posted June 15, 2012 Willlie - Thanks for correcting the spelling....
