camillenparadise
Just in case...anyone here heard of Alabato del Pacifico, a sort of halibut, related to flounder or lenguado? So few pescaderias maintain websites here...thanks!
El Bizco
It's a common fish in the Pacific Northwest. Yes related to flounder-- both eyes on same side of head.
More Liana
More than you ever wanted to know about Alabato. https://www.igfa.org/species/144-halibut-pacific.aspx?CommonName=144-halibut-pacific.aspx
Bisbee Gal
If you don't have luck at the pescadorias, ask David, owner of Tabarka. The other night we had the best grouper there and we told him it was far superior to the grouper we get in Florida. He told us it was a smaller species from the Sea of Cortez and went on to tell us about the various groupers throughout the world....he knows his fishes! He personally shops daily in Guadalajara for his seafood and would know if alabato is available there.
