Not sure if I need a GP or a specialist

It would depend on what you are taking the meds for. If you are taking meds for different reasons, you may need to start with a GP.

I am guessing that any reputable GP could help a patient with high BP. My GP is Dr. Garcia at the Maskaras Clinic at 765-4805.

I just read Tiny's post above. He made a good point too. If the meds you are now taking are creating the high BP, maybe you should see someone who would understand why you are taking these present meds, if in fact it is these meds that are creating your high BP. He then could make medicine adjustments.

I should have added on my first post, "Did the presriptions come from more than one doctor?".

If you are taking meds for a blood pressure/heart problem, and are asking for a recommendation of a doctor to advise on that, I recommend Dr. Hector Briseno at 766-1870. PM me if you want an email or a direct phone # for him.

Dr. Hector Briseno is a very skilled cardiologist, he is very busy. I would recommend Dra. Gaby, in the same office. She works closely with Dr. Briseno and the other specialists there. She is a smart cookie, an internal medicine specialist and emergency medicine specialist. An internal medicine specialist is like a GP on steroids - sort of like a Mexicana Dr. House, without the limp and painkiller addiction.😁

By the way, if you are using a home blood pressure monitor, take it it with to see if it is calibrated properly.

Yes!  BP is heart related and Dr. Briseño is the specialist to see.

Take a complete list of your medications & supplements with you.

He took pleanty of time, was very patient and precise in evaluating me, my history, and in prescribing my medications.  When I move NoB, the MDs were impressed and changed absolutely nothing. I remain on Dr. Briseño‘s regimen, years later, and continue to be stable.

Thanks to all for the suggestions; some useful information there.  And sorry - I thought I was clear that the meds were for my blood pressure and the side effects coming from them, I suspect, after doing some reading. Will definitely have the calibration of my monitor checked; no matter how good the doctor is, no one's going to take as much interest in your health as you would yourself.  Need a consultation to start, but I believe in researching and doing what I can at home to manage these things.
