It would be even easier if someone could tell you if the turn off to the Macrolibramiento is now open. It was blocked off as of August 2017 on google maps.

This is the first set of signs... "Colima, Tlajomulco" and she better be in the right hand lane because the turn off happens very quickly https://www.google.com.mx/maps/@20.6990755,-103.4578718,3a,90y,134.2h,96.33t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sjTT-Zn6CU9z4xIaPfE4jpA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

The second set adds Periferico Sur... https://www.google.com.mx/maps/@20.6983298,-103.4571581,3a,15y,171.84h,88.29t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sY2n7jHi9wtupHIvWFT_S_g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

The Periferico Sur (after a long way) has the turn off to "Chapala, Aeropuerto"... https://www.google.com.mx/maps/@20.5893317,-103.3234042,3a,75y,26.88h,90t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sjFoL24Rqw0Qc7KtbaUo_YA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

My preference was always the right hand lane... because the signs can come up very quickly especially when you're behind a BIG truck or the green sign is backed against a green tree. Good luck.

The macrolibriamento sur exit sign at km 19 of 15D says Zapotlenejo but prior to that the signs say Chapala and airport. It and the Jala-Compostela bypass are both open. The new highway around Guadalajara is 90km from the 15D exit to the last toll booth just prior to the Chapala highway exit.

I want to to go down to Melaque which is the best route to take from Chapala.

We will be driving what is the approx distance and time, are there toll roads?

thankyou amigos

If you like mountain 2 lane roads with no guardrails to spoil your views take the direct route, 80, through Autlan.  If you don't care for that type of driving and don't mind an extra 50 km, take 54D through Colima, around Manzanillo and up 200 to Melaque.  Oh, and that route will probably save you about a half hour of driving time and give you views of the volcano before you get to Colima. That was always the way we went except for once through Autlan. Once was enough.  YMMV  54D is toll road. 4.5 to 5 hours travel time.
