M & J Royal Pizza knocks it out!

We had fun and good pie at the new neighborhood pizza place. Each pizza coming out of the oven looked seriously delicious!  (Good looking salads too.) The busy guy working the floor took our order and got our drinks in a timely fashion. He was keeping a lot of balls in the air and doing a good job of it while maintaining a cheerful attitude. Our pizza was perfectly cooked and tasted good!  The crust was thinnish but poofed and crispy at the edges- with good texture and flavor. The toppings were fresh, the cherry tomatoes sweet. A nicely chilled Sauvignon Blanc and a convivial crowd added to the dining experience. There was a kind of air of enjoyment in the place. We will most definitely go again and soon! (They are in Ajijic village centro on 16 de Septiembre, the corner where Ole Ola used to be.)

We've been several times and consider the pizza and service to be excellent.  They are quickly becoming very busy.  When we were there last, the delivery man was just leaving to deliver a pizza to Chula Vista Norte.  He was driving a truck.  We asked about the cost of delivery and were told: "Whatever people want to pay the driver".  One can only hope that these very had hard working people were able to negotiate a decent lease so that they are not "thrown out" when the landlord gets greedy.  Rumor is the building has just been sold!

Pretty reliable rumor.  The "se vende" or for sale sign is gone.

Early Saturday evening, ordered a veggie pizza and a caprese salad. Both excellent. Was shown the pizza oven, which is made of some kind of fortified and fireproof material, so it gets hotter than a standard adobe oven. Service was excellent and fast. The price of what I would call a small to medium pizza (one size fits all) at $170p is a bit high, I think, but I will defiitely go back. The crust is a bit thicker than Pizza Disco, which I still prefer, especially for the price: 120p for the same size.

  • 3 weeks later...

We walked over to M & J Royal last evening- brrrrrr!- and warmed up the minute we sat down. It was toasty in the restaurant, and we got there a little before the dinner hour (could still get a table!) and had another really good pizza and nice service to go with it. The building has been sold and they will be moving ( not yet) but aren't sure where. We HOPE they will find a spot in Ajijic village that is still walking distance for those of us that live nearby. It has been a real treat to have their jumping place just down the street.
