gringal
We had the need to stay "somewhere" when we bought a decrepit house in Ajijic and major remodeling was necessary for bringing it to a habitable state. We stayed at the Nueva Posada for several weeks in a very pleasant, large room on the third floor. The meals were good and everything was satisfactory. It's right on the lake and the outdoor dining area is a pleasure. Indoor dining room is comfortable.
Bisbee Gal
They also offer extended stay small casitas at very reasonable rates given their location.
bournemouth
The OP asked about its age - it was built in the late 80's and opened around 1990 - I don't remember the exact date.

bmh
The hotel is nice and the little casitas nicer and newer. I think they were new or almost new when we stayed there in 2001.

Ferret
La Nueva Posada was always our hotel of choice when travelling to the coast from San Miguel de Allende. Great location, great restaurant and comfortable rooms.
pappysmarket
Our first trip together to Mexico was in 1995. Our plan was to scout Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta as possible retirement sites. We quickly dismissed GDL as being too big and polluted, regardless of the colonial charm. A cab driver suggested a day trip to lakeside and we said sure. OK, nothing special until he brought us to the Nueva Posada for lunch. Beautiful! Although we loved Vallarta when it came time in 2000-2001 we returned to lakeside and at that time they were giving away houses and not so in Vallarta. We spent the better part of 8 years there and the NP stayed as nice as we had remembered it. You can't go wrong there. Now we live in Puerto Vallarta so have gotten to enjoy both of the places we picked out on that trip almost 23 years ago.
