Willie
Did anyone notice the music this morning about 3a.m. in Chapala? What was that about? And such a strange start time!
Xena
What part of Chapala? I live in the north east corner and heard nothing.
Willie
We are downtown...about 2 blocks from the mercado. We have friends that live across from the American Legion and it woke them up too.
Xena
That is odd — especially the start time. Hope it was at least good music.
jrm30655
I live in Villa Nova and occasionally, there will be a "marching band" practicing somewhere around here in the middle of the night. They definitely need the practice. The very first night I was in MX, in April 2008, there was one practicing at 4am on Guadalupe-Victoria just outside my window. That's when I knew why they didn't let me bring my gun into MX.
Xena
Willie, the celebrating continues. Cohetes around 11 last night and early this morning and now again after 10. Bells ringing from one of the small churches above me which are only rung on special occasions. Maybe a fiesta for the saint of one of the smaller churches? blankletmusic
Never a dull moment. With that said, hasn't Mexico enacted legislation on the federal level that imposes a noise decibel limit for this sort of thing? It's like trying to put out a forest fire with a water pistol. Maybe they enforce it in the glitzy tourist areas and wealthy neighborhoods.
miendo
In upper Ajijic, one of the neighborhoods honors San Andres at 3am by blocking the street and feeding the muscians. Maybe the same
Xena
Okay, Willie, saw on Chapala photographer Daniel Padilla’s Facebook page parade photographs and the English translation said: “Morning procession 26/11/2017. In Honor of Christ King.! ?Congratulations to everyone who participated.Do not miss the procession today in the afternoon 5:00 pm.Chapala, Jalisco.”
