My new US plated car

Can I drive my new car in Mexico if I have an FM3. I hate to get rid of it I just bought it cash last year.

There has been no such thing as an FM3 for at least three years.  A person holding a tourist visa and a Resident Temporal visa can drive a US plated car.  A Residente Permanente cannot.

Actually no such thing as a FM-3 for more than 6 years and maybe 7 years. After FM-3/2, visas became Inmigrante and Non-Inmigrante. Then Nov 9, 2012 changed to TR and PR.

So, if you are either a tourist with a tourist permit, or hold a Residente Temporal visa, you may temporarily import your fully paid off automobile into Mexico by paying a small fee at the border and a deposit of up to $400 USD to insure that you will remove the car at the appropriate time.  You must have Mexican insurance coverage.

My bad. I meant a residente temporal visa. I understand I can bring my car with that type of visa. Thank you for your responses.
