pam harting
this man has been providing me with lousy "care" for months now ... I want to make sure others aren't similarly MIS-treated. and I want to hear what others have experienced with him ... daisy2013
If this is so lousy why keep going for months. It does not matter others experience, it is yours that count.
Hud
I knew one lady that claimed that he almost killed her. I know others who he has given incorrect meds to. I know one who had a neck problem (soreness) , went to Lastra who called in a Guad Ortho specialist and after tests (mri, etc) they read the reports and said that the person needed immediate surgery or they would become paralyzed. This person immediately went NOB to a specialist who could read Spanish and the report said "normal wear, nothing significant". When challenged, Lastra supposedly shrugged his shoulders. I believe his speciality is emergency room trauma.
ComputerGuy
He's well-known and well-respected, and continues to take courses and such every year. He ain't perfect, but he is good, based on my personal experience over the years. On the other hand, there have been many horror stories for every single doctor lakeside, from Chapala to Jocotepec, and many in Guadalajara. Ferret
I also agree with ComputerGuy. In addition, I can tell you that my Doctor stories in Canada are dismal. Some things they never figured out and for three other problems it took THREE years for each problem to be figured out. It's not easy being a Doctor. The body is incredibly complicated. Yo1
Betty7--I think you would know better than to write something so blatant on a public forum. Do you not understand the libel laws in Mexico? BTW--I'm not a fan of most docs at Lakeside.
Al Berca
I agree with Computer Guy. Dr. Lastra has been here a long, long time. Before most of us and most of the doctors here. That is plenty of years for both true and false stories to exist about someone. (Edited by Mod to remove personal comment and implied threat against another member.) JayBearII
Dr. Lastra is my neighbor, and while he is not my doctor, I am told he specializes in pain meds, and I have seen him going and coming in the night to attend to patients. I am happy to have him living nearby. One of the things I appreciate about my private health insurance here, which is a catastrophic plan that only covers certain things, is that it covers second opinions by a board of US doctors who will get involved in your case. I am big on second opinions.
