So Pedro thinks the hotdog is lowly. It's been around longer than him.

What part of ned small as my name escapes you. The other person you mention is a friend of mine as well as a few other persons on this board, but he does not post here at all. What is this obsession with some of you?  I take the mistake as a compliment. Anybody that I know, by the way, would not categorize the hotdog as haute cuisine therefore the lowly,

All in good fun, all in good fun.

Geez, P, where did you read the weiner is haute cuisine? For that matter, maybe in my house it is. And leave off with the Ned crap. We all know who you are, and Pedro, your alternate ego, is no one to look up to, thanks to your crusade of anger and superiority over the years.

When hot dogs have been roundly condemned by the food police, eating them becomes an act of rebellion. When you limit yourself to eating hot dogs only four to six times a year, you want the very best tasting and most satisfying brand. It's like the guy whose medical insurance pays for only four Viagra pills a month. He does not want to waste one on a mediocre experience. Amiritefellas? What we need to remember is that not everyone is a discriminating eater (or drinker or smoker for that matter). Their poor tastebuds surrendered decades ago. So, they really see no differences in what they are eating. They deserve our compassion and understanding. They are not likely to get it, but they do deserve it.

Me? There aint nothing better tasting or priced than a Costco hot dog be it in Guadalajara or up North. Oh and Pedro AKA Ned, it's great to see you posting in a pleasant manner, in a manner like the old days. Welcome back Ned.

75% of this thread has been totally hijacked.  The "Hot Dog Shop" needs to go a long way to improve the interior's current disarray and obvious lack of any level of sanitary control.  This place, regardless of how friendly the owner is, would never, ever, pass a health department inspection in either of the other two North American countries to the north!  Yesterday, two local doctors reported that salmonella occurrences and parasitic related illnesses are on the increase.

This is the time of the year that that salmonella and parasitic problems increase substantially due to the heat. Lack of refrigeration at stands, food left out at restaurants and

poor handling of food becomes far more obvious when the heat factor arrives in April through to the rainy season.

Use common sense when eating out or even working in your own kitchen.

You should give Mama's Bar dogs a try. Costco beef dogs, I prefer the "char dog".

Wait, wait, wait! Are you saying Mama's bar in SAT serves Costco beef dogs? Good hotdog buns too? Or would that be expecting too much? I don't want to get my hopes up if this is not true.

I already told Daniel the same thing. His Polish is good, but $75 MX for a fancy hotdog is a bit much. $39 MX for fires makes it $109. Try Melanies! The price is  much less and includes a beer!

A Harveys hotdog in Canada regular price is roughly 45 pesos with loaded condiments. Labour cost, etc. is waaaaay higher there. A lot of you got suckered in by an alleged sausage maker and crook, big daddy, a few years ago which really has nothing to do with this except the sausage part. A hotdog for 65-75pesos should have some gold or precious jewels involved as a side. A P.T. Barnum saying comes to mind.

Good buns that fit the oversize Costco dogs. Served with some chopped tomato and onion and fries, $75p. I ask for mine "well done, charred". Not that I am too picky but I bring Heinz catsup, chopped dill pickle and hot peppers and celery salt. Comes close to a Chicago Dog...

OK, I easily find the 1/4 pound dogs in Costco but have not found the rolls to fit them. I'm male so don't ask for directions.
