babyface
Just read that El Fogon de Charlotte has good calamari. Is it fried or grilled? Also, any other recommendations for fried calamari lovers in the Lakeside area? Does anyone serve it with lemon?
artsnob
They do it both ways, although I like it fried, always served with lemon and great salad
camillenparadise
And Walmart sells a great frozen, clean calamari, about 12 inches long with tentacles. It's in their frozen fish cooler (wouldn't buy anything fresh there!) Half kilo pack, 70p. Egg wash, flour dip, fry til crisp......your own perfect red sauce. YUM!!!! babyface
I want to try the El Fogon de Charlotte calamari- it's on my list for this week. As for frying it myself, I've never done it. Is it a sautee type, as in pan-fried? Or deep fried? Obviously, I haven't done much frying. What type of oil? Heat? If you don't mind a few directions I'll try it! Who knew Walmart would have a good frozen product?

pattya119
El Fogon de Charlotte is verrrrrry good! I have eaten just about every menu item, and I have no complaints. The Pulpo salad is great, the dressing is wonderful. The Pork Shank-Chamorro- falls off the bone, delicious sauce. If you haven't tried it, GO! Guiness
The Pork Shank Chamorro is the best we have ever had. Your choice of side - sweet mashed potatoes or baked potatoe or salad. Huge portions. Really good food - we love going there. Traffic can be a little noisy but if you go after 6pm it's quieter. Nice patio tables and Lori is always smiling and happy to see you! We love the Calamari too! Yum
