babyface
Does anyone know if the climbing Bourbon rose "Zephirine Drouhin" is available at any lakeside viveros? Thanks!
Yo1
I've never seen a Bourbon rose in any nursery here.
elisabeth
What about china or tea roses?
Yo1
Hybrid teas of course but nothing really special or out of the ordinary. In the US I grew moss roses from stock from the 1600s. No chance of finding them here.
babyface
Thanks for all of your thoughts! I was looking for Zephirine Drouhin because it climbs, has a strong fragrance, beautiful deep pink blooms that will happen in shade. I figured maybe I'd not have a chance of finding it here. I did find a rose at the vivero in San Antonio (behind Superlake) I thought maybe was ZD- it's bloom was cupped, deep pink with a gorgeous old-rose smell, and it was tied up to a stake and about 5 feet tall. The person helping me didn't know the variety- and since roses down here don't usually come with tags, I got it and brought it home. Then I found a small sticker on the side of the black plastic the rose came in that says "Rosa Holandesa de Castilla". Has anyone grown this rose in the Lakeside area or know about it's care?
