Joyfull
Doing a home exchange in PV next week. Would like to meet the folks who we are exchanging homes with around 1/2 way. Anyone know of a restaurant or someplace we could connect along the drive? Also, we have not driven to PV before and any directions would be appreciated. Any new roads open? JoseTortugas
Hi: I live near Platanitos in Nayarit. Great palapa restaurants on the beach. If you want something close to the highway, try Angelita's in Las Varas. Its in town a few blocks. No new roads yet. Everyone is waiting on the bridges to be completed on the new highway. The best drive to PV from Ajijic is the cuota from GDL (Mex 15). Take the Tepic bypass to Mex 200 for the rest of the trip. Between there and Las Varas it is a winding two lane but after the town it straightens out. You get out of the jungle at Bucerias then its smooth sailing to PV. Interested in your house exchange. We rent ours at Playa las Tortugas when we aren't there. Might be up for an exchange. Check it out: www.turtlebeachmx.com. Ours is Casa Luna. If you have time going or coming you should drive out. There's a map on the website. Joe
tomgates
There is nothing really half-way, as you would have the easy ride there and back, and the person in PV would have the mountainous, twisty drive to do both times!
Alfa
For many years we have driven to and from PV through Ameca and Mascota and usually stop in Mascota for lunch at La Mesa de Abuela. I have seen too many mad drivers taking risks along highway 200 to want to drive that route again. The distance is a little shorter than Hwy 15 and 200 although it takes a little longer and may not be to everyone's taste. It is certainly an interesting drive.
RVGRINGO
We always preferred the route through Ameca and Mascota, for the same reasons, and for the fact that the scenery is spectacular, interesting stops or side-trips can be made, and the driving demands keep one awake and alert. There is much less traffic and......there are no cuota fees. Good lunch options are available in Ameca, Mascota, or even San Sebastian; depending upon your schedule. pappysmarket
RV is spot on. The driving demands will keep you awake and alert. .... And as he says plenty of places to stop and eat with clean restrooms and a spectacular Mirador. San Sebastian is a quick detour and even Talpa is not that far afield.
