suegarn
Given that gas has gone down, can anyone explain why the price of the bus trips has gone up? Luckily for those of you who are American, I guess this is a good deal for you.....not so much for us Canadians though.
LCS Bus Trips
The bus companies have raised their rates as they charge in pesos.
lcscats
Every january prices go up. Gas in Mexico has not gone down yet. Price changes for gas, LP in a much slower manner than US. Remember prices are fixed by the mexican government and Pemex is owned by the government. Stations are leased out.. This is scheduled to change over the next few years. Look soon for Oxxo gas stations. Some of the signs have already gone up. Many more costs for a bus than gas also it is probably 100 grand for the nice volvo/mercedes buses that LCS uses. I suppose they could save money and use some 30 year old Dina bus but I wouldn't ride on it. It was 5k 6k pesos for the mercedes van that held 15 plus driver that we used to the ball games in Guad I can imagine what the big nice buses cost to rent and prices go up in january as I said before. These are great drivers that LCS uses and I always feel safe on a LCS trip. Been on a few too cheap charters that were scary unrelated to LCS. I will pay the money. El Cartero
Still a great price for one person. For a couple it's slightly less than a private driver.
suegarn
Actually, not such a great price even for one person. I can hire a private driver who'll pick me up and drop me off right at my doorstep for only 80 pesos more, instead of having to either take a taxi or bus to and from the sculpture in La Floresta from my home. lcscats
Do they have proper livery insurance to carry paying passengers? LCS buses and Vans charters do. Not trying to rain on your parade but this is one of the differences. Many normal insurance policies won't cover things if they find out someone has been taking money to be a taxi. Having good insurance is a definite plus, since I've heard of situations where the bus driver was in an accident and, knowing the insurance situation, simply fled the scene. Yes, lscats, my driver does have insurance and is a qualified livery driver. He has been in business here for many years.
