Recommended Posts

Have you seen this? Sent to me via email from the Lake Chapala Reporter

Hola amigos,

By popular request, the developers of the future LakeCity development project, Grupo Naimar, will conduct an informational presentation for the community thiscoming Monday at 11AM at the La Floresta Marina. This is a great opportunity to learn more about what this project means for our community, and for you to ask any questions you might have.
Because they plan to serve brunch, they need to know how many people to expect. Please RSVP to them (not the Lake Chapala Reporter), using the email address info@lakecity.mx as soon as possible, indicating how many people in your party plan to attend.

Please click the following link to see the invitation.

P.S. Do you know others who might be interested in attending this event? Just click the link below to forward this email to your friends.

If you click on the invitation link, there's a big picture of this monstrosity. Looking at the setting I get the distinct impression this is what they are planning to put on top of the mountain above the libremiento.

Someone need to tell these geniuses that those mountains are nothing but rocks and mud. If this is where they intend putting this, any who own businesses or homes below it may want to consider getting together and hiring some good lawyers.

Yikes!

Why would they be announcing this so early on, I wonder.

We should all go. They're serving brunch. I'm thinking with such high in the sky plans on their minds, there should be Champagne, too. (Or even lower-case champagne.)

Not only unimaginable, but reminiscent of a big feed that we attended years ago at the west end of the lake. Streets were in, but no promises of water, etc. Great food and champagne & other libations designed to encourage one to sign a pre-sale agreement or contract for a lot. Nice party, no development. One wonders how many suckers were taken in. The salesmen had little hard information and wore really cheap suits.

RVGRINGO beat me to it.

That computer generated illustration on the invitation is hysterical. I was so delighted by it I went to the "Grupo Naimar" website. If you read it (in Spanish) it is absolute hocus pocus that says nothing. This sounds like a complete scam, and I'll bet anything they are looking for investors during lunch. Be sure to bring your checkbook!

Names, numbers and web site show nothing on google searches. Ask these guys for their resumes or how ling they have worked for the company and where is it registered.

One question does come to mind. Is this an election year? First rumours of a hotel, then the new hospital rumours, then the new store, now this...or were all those rumours just a lead up to this big reveal?

I checked on the website and the group seems to be a scoping level group only, nothing more. Its a pretty skimpy site on detail, not too professional in the transaltions offered in multiple languages. Is that because they are early stage in setting up a live website or a scam as Spencer suggests? Just by way of offering an alternative viewpoint, I wonder if they are using this as a means of gauging public support for developments of this kind in our area? I plan to attend the breakfast session in the hope they are here for some serious market research. At worst, I will be sitting in on a pitch for time shares.

Whatever comes out of Mondays meeting, In this land of big ideas, huge promises, and little follow through - I will believe anything new only when I see it open its doors to the public. Lord knows the people of Ajijic and Chapala could use the jobs and the economic input so if the group turns out to be serious, can supply credential and offers transparency, then I for one will not be too quick to pooh pooh the idea.

You can be sure of one thing, If they are serious, they will be reading this web board. Won't this be a fun topic until Monday?

Ironic how they can mention a gigantic mall, a casino (we don't have enough yet), and a fantastically large building complex... right on the same page as their "ecotourism" plans (with cable cars even).

Dialing the phone number on that online flyer gets a "no existe"...

Isn't this like the grand housing complex there were going to build outside of Joco, they got investors and it never happened and they skipped town with all the money.
