WIN
I get my bio-identical hormones from the US. I don't use a compounding pharmacy because they can be quite costly. I know for I use to order from those pharmacies. When I asked for bio-identical hormones such as progesterone and estriol, what I found here were synthetic. I refer to Dr. John Lee's research, in following those guidelines for physiological dosing, timing and application. I have only been able to order blood tests in Mexico. The recommended and proven best route of testing is saliva. I have yet to find any resource for saliva testing in Mexico at this point. Thus the highly regarded ZRT labs will continue to have my business, with expedited shipping. There must be resources here in Mexico, that I have yet to locate, for both saliva testing and bio-identical creams, both of which were part of a proven recipe for hormonal balance when I went through menopause in the states. I'd be interested in hearing from others who are aware of such resources. For those of you who are looking for other shipped in sources, please send me a PM. I do have note of a group which will be ordering (individually) test kits, and shipping back /sharing in shipping to expedite their completed test kits to the states. If interested ... again... PM me. Thanks again for this board's help.
congodog
Too bad there isn't a "ladies only" board. The guys may not really get this topic. I would also like to learn more about option for hormone replacement and will be watching this topic.
solajijic
What ladies only? Do not be so quick to discount the guys in hormone replacement. There is a group of Guad physicians who are well respected in their bio-identical hormone work and research. They treat men too. Implants or cream. There is a group of women, and men, who have been using this practice for over 5 years, send me a PM if you want contact info.
WIN
What is the purpose of natural hormone replacement therapy if you are post menopause? There are so many benefits. Best source of info is Dr. John Lees book/research. Purpose is too numerous to post here. However,I use progesterone which promotes bone building and protects against osteoporosis, protects against cancers, natural anti-depressant. Imagine that, when you hormones are out of balance, even if you can't detect it and without symptoms, your body won't do well over time.
suzanjo
Got on the natural hormones after saliva tests in St Paul MN Menopause Clinic. 2014. I don't do Docs or drugs if it can be avoided. But, go long enough with hot flashes waking you up every hour, no sleep, going bazerk, extreme depressive symptoms, and you will understand. It is expensive. $800 USD for two hormone supplements per year. Would love to save costs on this if info is available for local resources. Thanks! mexpat06
That is about the cost of two treatments here either implants or creams. Most women need implants every 4 months rather than the medically conservative 6 months. Some people prefer the creams but I think the cost can be higher overall and the results less consistent. The male pellet implants run about the same cost per year.
WIN
I don't do the implants. I do bio-identical creams, with regular testing from labs which mail test kit from states. There is a less expensive, just as effective way to balance hormones.

WIN
Where do you have your follow up saliva test done, to monitor your levels? Do you order the test from the states, or have you found a local resource? Thanks! Got on the natural hormones after saliva tests in St Paul MN Menopause Clinic. 2014. suzanjo
I have not done any follow up testing. Works well, so why bother? I buy products NOB.
WIN
Many people (both men and women) feel their system is in balance and they feel good. However, you will not know how your body is taking up the prescribed hormones. Why is it important to know? You won't necessarily feel bad if you are presented with estrogen dominance. You might not know it. Yet, should you test, and find out that the combination you use, leave you exposed to that imbalance, then you can adjust it. Why after testing and finally balancing out your hormones after years, would you retest? Just like the changes which took place beginning in our 30's, our system continues to change, and that change may indeed require an adjustment in the dose of bio-identicals. Have you ever taken a test after your baseline, which initially showed your imbalance? A few women I have heard from say they re-tested (even though they felt good) and it was noted that their estrogen levels had gone too high. They then knew to cut back. When we go on certain medications, we must monitor. Same with bio-identical HRT. One of the most common reasons to go on progesterone for example, is to remove that threat of estrogen dominance. Estrogen dominance has been linked to cancer, bone loss, mental fog, and what we consider to be other aging issues. No woman or man for that matter should have to experience aging in an increasingly challenging manner which hormonal imbalance presents. It's preventable and/or reversible. Life is tough enough. I have not done any follow up testing. Works well, so why bother? I buy products NOB.
rogerm
Curious what hormones are available for men and what do they do? I am aware of testosterone.
ericandleslie
Excess testosterone will simply convert to estrogen which is why steroid users sometimes grow breasts, and suffer emotional lability. An aromatase inhibitor can alleviate this issue. I am not a doctor.
