  1. We are US citizens and, as residents of Mexico, also had a Jalisco plated car which we drove in the USA on visits in several states. No problem at all and no need for permits, fees or deposits. Never had any questions and only one cursory inspection.
  2. Around Lakeside, you should fear the expat drivers with expired plates and/or an Importada Temporal that was not properly renewed when their INM status changed or renewed. They think they are insured, but have never read the fine print and do not know that they are driving an illegal vehicle and are usually not insured, as a result. The insurance agents do not tell you that detail. Also, Aduana does not notify you that your car is illegal. You find out the hard way.
  3. They have Afrin, etc. Maybe they did not quite understand you.
  4. I am not sure if you will find an extensive list of all medications, as there are so many. As you can see in the post above, brand names just give brand names, not what may be applicable in Mexico. It is a matter of translation of the generic name, rather than the proprietary brand name. For example, you might get a translation for aspirin = aspirina, but would be better off looking for acetylsalacilic acid = ácido acetylsalacilico. On the other hand, many generic names are unchanged in translation and will be easily understood by a clerk in any farmacia in Mexico. #172 above, is Plavix = Plavix, but it is actually Clopidigrel and is available under that generic name.
  5. He means the pharmacy, whose name is Farmacia Similares. Other farmacias will have it also, if you ask for Premarin generico.
  6. It is small and it sits back in that small shopping area, making it somewhat hard to see. It is best to try to spot it on your way to Costco, by having your passenger look across the other, southbound lane. Then, you can pick a more visible landmare for your turn when you are southbound yourself. I would try to tell you what the landmark might be, but try as I might, I cannot remember. Use Google map and you might be able to find it with a street view. The Superama addresses must be available online.
  7. There is a Superama on Lopez Mateo Sur, south side of the highway before you get to Costco, if coming from Lakeside via Jocotopec. It is easier to stop there after your Costco visit, as you will have crossed under the highway and be headed south, putting the Superama on your right in a small shopping area.
  8. It probably means that they will not deliver to the Codigo Postal that you submitted.
  9. Yes, reverse engineering of alien technology is absolutely true. As a USAF misslie launch officer, I was trained at an alien base (Army) where an alien (Werrner Von Braun) was tasked with updating the alien (Nazi German) technology of the V-2 to become the Redstone and then the Jupiter intermediate range balistic missiles that we placed in alien countries closer to the big red alien country, and were later traded for theirs in a little Caribbean Island alien country, which is now very alien and under embargo, but where our diplomats just visited yesterday, but were listened to by an alien spy ship visiting by some mysterious coincidence; you know, the same aliens who allow our guys to ride along into space, since we cannot get there any more. Yup, superior alien technology is very real.
  10. Unidentified Flying Object crashed this morning in a Tijuana parking lot. It was carrying packages which were just too heavy for its capabilities. They weighed in at about 3Kg and the drone fell to earth. Drugs were in the packages. Police took everything and will investigate. See Unonoticias.
  11. Way back when, in the misty past, I was able to see some unidentified flying objects, which others called UFOs at the time. Many years later, some as long as 30 years later, they lost their status as they were identified; at least the successful ones. Most of them are now designated by F- and a number, or B-and a number. However, when they were still unidentified, they were only tested from remote installations and often flew over less populated areas....like some found in other nearby convenient countries: some even further away. Now, I have been beamed away from Chapala to another location, as have some of my friends. I went laterally, some went vertically; some up, some down, I suppose. Some just went up a chimney without any special ‘beams‘ at all.
  12. The war of the worlds appears to have begun.......
  13. If you have a US bank account, but not a Mexican account, you might just as well deposit it in your US bank. You can mail it, or most banks now allow you to deposit it by online photo.
  14. That will depend upon where you are calling from and whether you are calling from a celular or a fixed phone. Folks know which to use.
  15. I suggest the following: MX: 33-0000-0000 US: 610-000-0000
  16. Leave the 1 in the number if you leave the 52. 52 = Mexico code 1 = Long distance 33 = Guadalajara area code In other words, put the number on the collar just the way the phone company gave it to you. Folks will know how to use it.
  17. Ouch! That hurt my ears, HarryB. Please turn down your decibel level.
  18. Actually, I have never seen it NoB; only in Mexico, nor have I been NoB in over a decade. You are on your own. Ask a clerk.
  19. Microdyne is usually in the vegetable department of most grocery stores.
  20. I think it would be very unwise for him to drive it without you in the passenger seat. You might have to bail them both out.
  21. Your car is now illegal. Neither of you should drive it. Confiscation is possible. Follow the advice to get the safe exit letter and take it out of Mexico in the window the letter provides. You might want to get Spencer to help you. (Intercasa, on this forum)
  22. We have a Sol y Luna box and are due to renew in two weeks.

  23. We have a '99 Nissan Pathfinder LE with leather and all the bells and whistles, including tow package and South Dakota plates. As we will be changing our INM status, we must sell it. It has about 77k miles, quite new tires and we'll hate to part with it. The price is $6500 and we'll have to go to the border together, as you know. If interested, send me an e-mail: rvgringo (at...

  24. Valerie,

I have Ron's number, but would like to stop in and talk with him about some work I need done on my car. Where is he located? I thought he was near Soriana, but I haven't spotted his shop.

    Thanks,

    Bob

  25. Please add me to your list. I have a Mac PowerBook G4 running Safari as my browser.
