Cost 370pesos for members and 470pesos for non-members *****For those who wish to shop the Forum Mall and/or Home Depot, accommodations will be made***** Bus departs promptly at 10 a.m. from the sculpture in La Floresta Thursday, 11 January: Centro/Downtown Self Guided Walking Tour Visit and admire the historical 17th,18th and 19th century architecture and their stunning murals and artwork, the Instituto Cultural Cabanas is a must. Sit and people watch in the beautiful Plazas, have luncheon in the Plaza de los Laureles or elegant dining in the Hotel Mendoza or other fine eateries in the area.     What: The LCS "Judy King" Lakeside Trivia Quiz A "fun"draiser for the LCS annual fund drive in the form of the popular trivia competitions held lakeside, with one critical exception: all questions will relate to Lakeside/Mexican trivia! When: Sunday, December 17, 2017, from 2 to 5 PM Where: At LCS on the Neil James Patio How: Sign your team of six (6) up now in the LCS office for $250 per person. Prizes for first and second place. More: Test your knowledge and have fun competing with the smartest people in town. Judy King has challenged herself to help LCS offer this unique twist to the popular Trival Pursuit game. (Alzheimer connection) Instructor: Kassandra King Course Fee: $500 MXN Course Dates: Wednesdays; Jan 31 - Feb 28, 2018 Course Time: 2:00 -3:30 pm Course Location: LCS Sala Min/Max Students required: 11/20 Enrollment begins Nov 21 from 10:00 to 2:00 at the LCS Office Enrollment ends January 05. Description: Based on tried and true approaches, this class teaches caregivers communication styles that work (words to use and those to avoid, phrasing, non-verbal cues), how to partner successfully to accomplish activities of daily living (grooming, eating, medication administration), how to turn repetitive or out of context questions into fruitful conversations, and how to engage a loved one in activities that empower the person with Alzheimer's disease or a similar form of cognitive impairment. You will learn how to guide the person, and yourself, to support a life well lived throughout this challenging process. Rementia methodology has been well received and effective by both family caregivers at home and professional caregivers in organized care settings. Kassandra received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Texas and a post graduate certification in longterm care administration at Texas State University. Kassandra has been employed as a nursing home administrator at several large facilities with special units for residents with Alzheimer’s. She holds skilled nursing home administrator licenses in both California and Texas, and a Residential Care Facility Administrator license. Her assisted living experience includes memory care program director and Rementia Care Training educator. As Public Policy Director and Professional Education Manager, Kassandra served at two chapters of the Alzheimer’s Association. She is the owner of Alzheimer’s Connection, a company that provides family consultations, private care management, and Rementia Care Training. Kassandra is the author of “Getting REAL About Alzheimer’s – Rementia through Engagement, Assistant, and Love.” The book is published by Plainview Press and available on Amazon.
