TENDER, FALL OFF THE BONE CHAMORRO

30 April 2012 - 03:52 PM

Saturday afternoon and evening, from 4:00 until 8:30 or 9:00, Bar Oficina in Chapala is serving this wonderful pork shank. The dinner comes with rice, salad and tortillas for the great price of 60 pesos.
Now, don't get your emeralds out of the vault or your sable out of storage!! This isn't a fancy place, but good down home eating. Show up in shorts and flip-flops or whatever else you are comfy in.

Bar Oficina is located on Madero (the main drag). Coming from points West, come into Chapala and take a left as if heading to Soriana. It's about 4 blocks down on the block before the bus station. The number is 467-A Madero.

We were there last night, ceiling fans were on and the place was nice and cool. The service was great, customers were a little sparse. I think this is the 3rd week hat Chamorro has been served. Ricardo prepares about a dozen servings, so if you have a group, you should probably call him a day or two in advance at 331-279-0262.

ANYONE HAVE A LARGE DOG CRATE?

22 April 2012 - 09:18 AM

I'm looking to beg, borrow, steal, rent or possibly buy a large plastic dog crate, pit bull size.

We adopted an abandoned pit bull from the Ranch about 3 weeks ago. We should have named him "Ivory" because he is 99 and 44/100 % GREAT. He's about 2 years old and weighs about 65 lbs.

The other 66/100 suffers from separation anxiety when left alone for more than 1/2 hour and has so far devoured a couch cushion.

From the research I've done it would seem that a destructive attitude is one of the main reason dogs are turned into shelters. It can be trained out of them, but it is a process. Crating is something I'd like to try.

If anyone has any other ideas, I'd sure be glad to listen. i'm already walking him about 30 or 45 minutes twice a day. He has toys etc, to play with. Just managed to find some Rescue Remedy yesterday so we'll work on that.

TIA

It's time once again for our ever popular Hasta La Pasta at the American Legion 114 Morelos in Chapala. The date is Thursday, April 12th. Cocktails at 5:00 and dinner at 6:00. There will be a huge selection of pasta dishes, both hot and cold. Antipasto, pasta salads, hot menu items, etc, etc, etc. Our kitchen will be serving salad and garlic bread to go along with dinner. We'll keep dessert light with ice cream served with A & W root beer sauce.

Tickets are 70 pesos for this event. There is a misprint in the ad that says tickets will be 80 pesos on the day of, NOT TRUE.

We could still use some dishes and if you would like to prepare your favorite to contribute, your ticket price will be FREE. I do ask that you email me at zanymar at yahoo.com to let me know what you are preparing so I can keep a handle on this. The dish should feed 10 - 12 people.
