I guess i downloaded this software at one time, but don't think i ever used it. Normally when you click to download something the protection software scans and says safe to download... if i didn't see that i would not have downloaded. Anyone using Vuze?
Would this not be detected at download time, or did some other event cause/let the Trojan horse in and hide itself under the Vuze directory waiting for me to use the software... letting loose the Trojan horse?
Computer all safe and all, just curious.

There's plenty of free protection software out there. I use AVG and it seems to work fine. There's also Malewarebytes that is free and seems to get everything.
Microsoft probably has the best thing ever in "Windows Protector". You can google and download it for free.

I can't speak directly to your Vuze issue, sorry.

I understand that. I was just relaying there are better, free products out there. Norton is notably slower, and false positives have always been a problem.don't have a problem with Norton..... it hasn't failed me.
Anyway - good luck with the Vuze thing. Hope it is nothing serious.

got a question for the computer geeks out there. My Norton software told me they located a trojan horse and it was located in the directory for Vuze.
I guess i downloaded this software at one time, but don't think i ever used it. Normally when you click to download something the protection software scans and says safe to download... if i didn't see that i would not have downloaded. Anyone using Vuze?

A good antivirus like Panda Cloud, Avira, or Microsoft Security Essentials hopefully should stop these. You can also scan the file before downloading
with Malwarebytes, or in the case where the trojan IS actually downloaded, remove it by running a scan with Malwarebytes afterward. It will find it and it can be easily removed.
The aforementioned are all FREE with few false positives.
BTW, these bit torrents such as Vuze have been known to contain malware. I hear they're a bit risky.

If you are talking only Internet speed, that's one thing. If you are talking computer speed: The spyware most likely damaged some key Windows operating files, resulting in a permanent slowdown. You are fortunate to have been able to remove the offenders, but you most likely are stuck with the damages. Once this happens, a "Windows refresh" is about the only thing that will fix it.This is a real threat and I've just spent three days getting nine trojans off my system. I HAD Norton, the virus took it off! I mean totally dissappeared from any file or folder! I reloaded with the Microsoft Security download and it had to remove the Javascript program to remove the trojans. I've since reloaded Java and everything is fine except moving slow. Is this just something those of us wth Prodigy are getting exposed to? I'm worried they'll come back, but I'm running regular scans and will keep my fingers crossed.
