LOWER LA FLORESTA
Closest to Ajijic
La Floresta is right next to Ajijic and south of the highway.
This Is a quiet residential area with cobble stone roads and several mini
glorietas (roundabouts), nothing like the glorietas in Guadalajara. One can
find themselves driving on a street with giant eucalyptus trees right smack
dab in the middle of the road. The law in Mexico is, that if you want to cut
a tree down you need a permit and sometimes it is not granted. Needn't worry
about the trees in the middle of the road, there are only three within one
block. The rest of the very tall old eucalyptus trees are where they should
be, surrounding homes and the Hotel Real de Chapala. This hotel is on the
lake front, it has its own swimming pool and outdoor/indoor dining.
Next to the hotel is the Club Nautical, a lovely club for folks that love
to sail, swim, play tennis and to party. At the Club Nautical one can store
there sail boat or motor boat there for a fee.
In Lower La Floresta there are horses that you can rent by the hour.
On Wednesdays, right at the edge of Ajijic and the beginning of La Floresta is an open market. People came from miles around to sell their foods, fruit, vegetables, trinkets, fish and clothes. Also there is a 24 hour surveillance watch.
