Several decades before Villa Nova became a sub-division, it used to be a gold mining area. Some people claim there was a lot of gold in th'm thare hills, others said there was very little.

Now, there are many homes that sit on the hillside, and most of them have a view of the lake and mountains. Villa Nova is west of Ajijic (by about 10 meters), it´s just off the Chapala/Jocotepec highway. this sub-development is 20 years old.
