THEATER AND SUCH

Jeritza McCarter is on a roll both as a performer and as a director. "Shadow Box," which opened the season was another star in her crown. While the subject matter could be considered on the dark side for a retirement community, the material was handled with sensitivity and humor. The acting was faultless and each character totally believable. The fly in the ointment could have been Liz Harrison, who has been fighting laryngitis
On a lighter note, Wayne Palfrey will direct the tummy-tickler, "Comic Potential." Along with some veteran performers will be several newcomers, Wayne has a good eye for the right person in the right role. The show opens Nov.12-19.
Although the show's not due to hit the boards until December, rehearsals have been in the hopper for "Cole" since late August. Not only are the songs familiar, such as 'Love for Sale,' but the costumes, too, will remind one of the bygone days of Hollywood, when it was brimming with glitz and glamour. What a Christmas treat.
Impressive was the key word for the squeaky-clean look of the theater. Everything not only looks good, but smells good too.
Cindy Paul recently paid tribute to Bonnie Wolff. As Cindy said, Bonnie was an asset to her friends, community and to anything musical. Always famous for her Christmas Cantata, the baton has been picked up, and the Cantata will go on in her memory. This year it will be held in the La Floresta Auditorio on Saturday, December 15th at 4:00 PM. No admission charge, but donations will go to the Red Cross, Chapala Animal Humane Society, and Operation Feed.
