Theater and Such
Important dates to remember: Season tickets and memberships go on sale this month as well as a party for the members. September 6th and 7th the box office will be open from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. The party for members follows on the 8th from 5-7:00PM. Every theater party has been well thought out and a barrel of fun, so if you like to have fun, better become a theater member. Anya Flesh is going full steam ahead on the Miracle Worker, which will open the season.. The show could have had some casting difficulties, however leave it to Anya to overcome any problems. Cindy Paul will play Annie Sullivan, which will be quite a change from the type of roles she has been playing. We will get to see the dramatic side of Paul interacting with Jessica Bosson in the part of a young Helen Keller. Put that all together with an excellent supporting cast and Anya adds another directing star to her crown. The editor was informed of an incorrect spelling of a cast member in a another publication. This will be Penny's debut and the name should be Penny Lynne O'Floinn according to the sheet she made out. Now is also the time to explore what you might like to try either onstage or backstage. Front and center or in the wings, the theater is always an exciting place to be. Once you get your feet wet it's like trying to eat just one potato chip. You go back for more. The Finnegans put on a show called "Scraps." An appropriate name since it was a mix of this and that. Only one of the vignettes was a little on the draggy side due to the script; not to the performers. Sylvia Ward was a hoot day dreaming what her life would be like if only she were Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. Reminded one of Val Diamond starring in the long running hit, Beach Blanket Babylon still a "must see" in San Francisco. The theater has a fine library and the number of plays produced through the years is mind boggling. Selecting just the right ones to meet the requirements of a certain area is the trick. Two workshops are scheduled for this month. On September 16th, Diane Wood, Marty Taras and Len Brietfeller lead a lighting workshop and on September 30th, you can learn all about acting from Marty Taras. Don't forget to attend the auditions for Cliff Hanger at the theater on September 22 at 2:00PM and on Saturday, September 23 at 11:00AM. There are five adult parts for three men and two women. You never know who may be watching for the right person to star in a Hollywood extravaganza. |
