"Volunteer
Health Resource
Group Training Program "
By Frank Dresslar
The
Volunteer Health Resource Group has been active in the Lakeside Community
for more than a year now. The program was formed to give comfort and
assistance to those who are alone, ill or dying. The group includes
medical and non-medical volunteers who wish to contribute in this vitally
needed area. In response to requests from volunteers, a training program
has been organized to help in developing skills that prepare the volunteer
to be more effective in their interaction with the people they visit.
If you are interested in attending the
training program, or need further information, please contact Annette
Evans at 776-2130 or Valerie Rhoda at 776-1976. The first training sessions
are scheduled for February 14, 21, 28, and March 14, 2002 from 2-5 pm.
The location for training sessions will be posted at the Lake Chapala
Society and will also be announced during the interviews.
Whether or not you choose to attend the
training sessions your contribution as a volunteer will be most valuable.
Not only will you find it personally satisfying, your comforting presence
will mean a great deal to the person (s) that you visit. You may obtain
additional information on volunteering by attending our monthly meetings
held the last Saturday of each month. The meetings are at 10:30 am at
LCS.
