*    “Hubo muy bonito,” is the way Jesús Lopez Vega described a full day at LCS’s Neill James Legacy Art Show. He said it was well attended and worth the wait. Professional local artists showing (along with the children’s LCS art class) were: Antonio Cardenas, Dionicio Morales, Jesús Lopez Vega, Enrique and Belva Velasquez and Javier Zaragoza. In the work of these five artists, we viewed some of the impressive results of the consistent efforts of the LCS children’s art program, and remembered the lady pioneer who started it with her effervescent vision and spirit, Neill James.

*     Ojo del Lago’s regular columnist, Gail Nott, a writer everybody loves to read, held a successful book-signing for her witty Loo Review last month. Call 766-0049 for more stuff about this talented comedianne of prose.

*     Another published writer on our staff, Editor Alejandro Grattan, gave a talk at the Rotary Club’s monthly luncheon-meeting. This group is serious about doing good. And Alex is a world-class raconteur, if I ever heard one!

*     A colorful Day of the Dead altar at La Trattoria de Axixic, live piano music and 2 for 1 margaritas made a nice beginning for my Halloween fling. This altar commemorates General Emiliano Zapata, whose name adorns streets in almost every Mexican Pueblo.
Afterwards, I perambulated on over to La Flor de Cordoba and caught the South of the Border Gang in full swing. Anybody notice Alan Bedford’s new fully electronic drum set.
