Walking the Walk

     * The Lakeside School for the Deaf sincerely thanks all those that worked their booth at the Chili Cookoff, as well as the wonderful volunteers that made the ever-popular Mardi Gras Masked Ball such an enormous success.
There are now 89 children between the ages of one and 23 with special hearing assistance and 45 older people who cannot afford to get their own.
The school will soon put on a painting party. If you’d like to help, contact Leslie at 766-2274.

    * The Lakeside Spay & Neuter Center’s annual Fashion Show is set for March 26, at the New Posada. Doors open at 12:30, and lunch will be served at 1:30. The menu includes cream of corn and poblano pepper soup, avocado and crabmeat salad, and pineapple and orange mousse.
Please keep an eye out for their posters providing information on the advanced ticket sales, as there is limited seating. Tickets are 150 pesos. More information at djonesgzjones@yahoo.com.

    * Speaking of good food, the students of Centro de Formacion, the technical university in hotel and hospitality management, will be preparing and serving a gourmet dinner on March 10 for a fund-raising event to help defray some of their tuition fees. Cocktails at 6:30, dinner at 7:30.
How’s soup, spaghetti al pesto, chicken or beef, veggies, a gourmet dessert and tea or coffee sound? Your donation is 300 pesos. Please call Linda Buckthorp at 766-1631 or write buckthorp@laguna.com.mx for highly recommended reservations.
