Walking the Walk

     * To encourage new graduates to learn English, the Education Committee of the Samaritanos sin Fronteras foundation will give a pocket-size Larousse English-Spanish dictionary to any Mexican 6th-grader graduating this year from a Ribera de Chapala primary school who can count up to fifteen in English… how cool is that! New graduates can recite the numbers 1-15  in English and pick up their dictionaries at the Chapala Principal Plaza between 12 and 1pm on Saturday, July 3.

     * Tom and Cordelia Trapani recently had this hand-sculpted statue, "Tuskar," shipped from Thailand and installed in their backyard. They invite you singly or in groups, especially school kids, to e-mail and arrange a viewing. Tuskar is the size of an adolescent male elephant, with textured skin and a body in motion, carved from wood. Write them at tomt38@msn.com.
