Walking the Walk

     * Fourth, fifth and sixth grade students in Lakeside elementary schools are beginning to stand in line for free raffle tickets to help celebrate the Dia de Niños on Saturday, May 1. The weekly Regalorama, sponsored by Samaritanos sin Fronteras will feature a reconditioned computer for the first place winner along with the usual gifts of bicycles, soccer balls, calculators, etc. The drawing will be held at 1 p.m. in the Chapala Plaza Principal and will be limited to elementary school students who do not already have computers in their home. The Canadian computer engineer who is donating the computer will deliver and install it in the home of the winner.
     The free raffle tickets are available by request in all local elementary school offices. Donations, including functioning or non-functioning computers, monitors and parts are welcome. Volunteers for this worthy cause are also sought. Please call Bob Burnett at 765-2092.

     *On behalf of local kids who receive musical instruments and instruction due to the efforts of the Golden Strings, thanks to all who supported the fun dinner show last week, on or off-stage. The gift of music is the gift of life.

     * LCS prez and nice guy Charlie Smith presented awards and thanks to LCS volunteers Richard Rhoda, Skip Waggoner, Tod Johnson, Hebina Hood, Allan Flaa, Dru Pearson, Tee Falcon, Ann Heath, Jean Dresslar, Gary Slocombe, Frank Edwards, Jeanne Chaussee.
