Seen & Heard

     * Some new folks in town: Peter Denton, photographer from South Africa, and Phyllis (Fein) Denton, creative writer and bridge Life Master, recently adopted the Ajijic community. Adopting them, however, were three baby barn swallows. One, knowing a good thing, has an occasional pad inside the Dentons’ home, special privilege with a great view.
Phyllis’ book, "The Lighter Side of Bridge," has a preface describing her "rhyming genius," written (no less) by Eddie Kantar. Here’s a sample you card players can relate to:

"Bridge Ethics"
by Phyllis (Fein) Denton

In bridge it’s most important
That you’re pleasant at the table.
Good sportsmanship and ethics
Shouldn’t really be a fable.

So doff your hats to those who lose
And bear it with a grin,
But me, I’ve got to tell you
I smile more when I win!
