Activity Lakeside

   * Weekly distributions of sports and school supplies to needy children, sponsored by Samaritanos sin Fronteras foundation and by expatriate residents of Lakeside Chapala, will celebrate its fifth anniversary at 1 p.m. February 14, Dia de Amistad, in the Chapala Plaza Principal. Expats are invited to participate in the "Regalorama," either as hosts, volunteers or observers. Anyone wishing to contribute school or sports supplies should go to the Chapala Computer Center at the Juarez Street entrance to the main plaza in Chapala by 12:30 p.m. on any Saturday.

   * Antonio O. Garza, Jr., USA Ambassador to Mexico, was guest of honor at a reception held at the LCS January 22. Tod Jonson organized this interesting, very well-attended, splashy event.

   * Don Adams, author of "Head for Mexico: The Renegade Guide" will hold book signings and informal visits at two locations in February. He’ll be at Galerias Avant Gourd y Papagayo, 16th de Septiembre #13, February 7, 11-2pm. He’ll also be signing books February 4 and 11 from 11-2pm at La Sala de Smokee. Come by and swap a few stories!

   * The rapidly growing Lake Chapala Jewish Congregation is looking forward to the coming spring when they will be able to celebrate the Sabbath and the holidays in the new Jewish Center located in La Floresta. For information, please write Judy Parker at judytravels@hotmail.com
