     * AWASH IN TURTLES:  They look like rocks, but they move all over the garden, screens and walls.  Their names are El Grande, La Chiquita, and La Princesa.  These rocks — I mean turtles — stayed alive by successfully lumbering across the carretera.  Most turtles don’t finish that trip, especially on weekends... just not a safe waddle.  Jose Maria Ramos, husband of my friend Leonora, found his turtle trio on the highway by San Nicholas. They now get to eat lettuce and lap up water in a lovely backyard garden. They even sleep on the sofa!  They may have originated in the lake, but their new pad is cool.  They take special interest in hanging around Leonora’s beauty shop entrance, welcoming her customers.
MOTTO:  Gather all ye turtles — instead of squashing them.
