FOCUS ON ART
By Teresa Kendrick

     * Chapala painter Janice Kimball opened her one-person show at El Refugio Cultural Arts Center in Tlaquepaque, Friday, October 17. The ribbon-cutting ceremony opened two bodies of work, “Passage to Discovery” a series in oil, and “Charerria,” series in pastels.  A busload of rowdy Lakeside fans was on hand to celebrate.

     * Kimball’s “Passage to Discovery” canvases revealed her training as an architect, her skill with the brush and her ability to tell a story with more than a sprinkling of the surreal. “Charerria” showed Kimball¹s ability to play and to create striking movement.  They demonstrated again her ability to freeze a moment in time with color, as well as her deep affection for her subject matter.

     * For information about the exhibition, which lasts a month, call 765-4858 or visit the Kimball Gallery at Las Redes #211, Chapala.
